The procedure is done by injecting a chemical, most commonly a concentrated salt solution, into the vein using a very small needle with minimal discomfort. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel causing the vessel to collapse and fade, typically within a few weeks. The number of sessions for desired result can vary depending on the amount and degree of veins treated.
