Is Botox Right for You?
Let’s do a quick break down of the science of Botox:
The primary action of Botox involves blocking nerve signals to specific muscles. In turn, the targeted muscles can’t contract, resulting relaxed facial muscles. As facial muscles relax, the overlying skin becomes smoother. This is particularly effective for movements caused by repetitive facial expressions, such as frowning or squinting.
The effects of Botox typically last between three to six months. As the nerve endings regenerate, muscle movement gradually returns. Regular treatments can help maintain smoother skin over time, and consistent use may prevent new wrinkles from forming.
How Many Units of Botox Do I Need?
The average number of Botox units used in a treatment can vary depending on the area being treated and individual needs. On average, a typical treatment uses around 40-50 units. Below is a breakdown of most common areas treated with Botox:
Glabellar lines (between eyebrows): 20-30 units
Forehead: 10-30 units
Crow's feet: 10-15 units per side
